French roulette is considered to be a progenitor of American and European game variants. This very roulette was invented in France in 1655.
Today French roulette rules are practically the same as European roulette’s. The wheel of the French roulette is divided into 37 sectors (numbers from 0 to 36), that are distributed randomly. All the sectors alternate between red and black colors with one exception – zero which occupies green cell on the wheel.

Zeros’ Number
The main difference between American and French roulette lies in the wheel sectors number. The first one has 38 cells (1-36, zero and double zero), the second has only one zero pocket which gradually diminishes the house edge – 2.7%. Besides, “La Partage” rule, according to which the player loses half of the Even money bet when zero comes out, can reduce the casino advantage even more – to 1.35%.
French Roulette Speaks French
Another distinguishing feature that makes French roulette stand out from the crowd of other roulette types is that all the usual terms have French equivalents which are used in the game process.
