American Roulette

Among gamblers American roulette is also known as “double zero roulette”. In 1800 casinos added to the French roulette wheel 38th sector – 00 – in order to get even more profit. Now the house edge practically for all bets is considered to be 5.26%. It’s twice as much as the casino advantage of European roulette. Besides, “0-0-1-2-3” bet increases the house edge to 7.9%.

As well as in European variant, all the numbers in American roulette wheel are not distributed in consecutive order; they are arranged in accordance with a certain scheme: 0, 2, 14, 35, 23, 4, 16, 33, 21, 6, 18, 31, 19, 8, 12, 29, 25, 10, 27, 00, 1, 13, 36, 24, 3, 15, 34, 22, 5, 17, 32, 20, 7, 11, 30, 26, 9, 28.

Eighteen of them are red:1, 3 ,5, 7, 9, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 30, 32, 34, 36.
Eighteen of them are black:2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13 ,15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 29, 31, 33, 35.
Both “zero” and “double zero”: 0 and 00 are painted in green.

Another difference between European and American roulettes (besides 37 vs. 38 wheel sectors) lies in the fact that in the latter players receive chips of various color – each participant plays with one color chips that is different from the other players’. American Roulette Rules

American roulette rules are quite simple and are the same as the rules used in European variant. From the very start of the game the dealer sets roulette wheel spinning and releases a small ball on it. Meanwhile, players are making bets and wait for the ball to lend on a certain sector. As the ball slows down, the dealer stops receiving bets; after the ball stops, he/she announces the result. Winners get their payouts, others lose their chips.

So, like in any other type of roulette, the player’s aim is to guess where the ball will stop.

American Roulette Additional Rules

In some casinos American roulette is played with the rule called “Surrender”. According to the rule the player loses only half of his/her Even money bet in case 0 or 00 comes out. Thus the house edge decreases to 2.63%, compared to 5.26% usual casino advantage for American roulette bets.
